GODSMACK Frontman Admits To Feeling 'Great Deal Of Pressure' On New CD

GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna has admitted there is a tremendous amount of pressure on the band to deliver an amazing third record following the quadruple-platinum success of the group's debut and the double-platinum performance of its follow-up, Awake.

"I'd like to say there's no pressure, but it's not true, man. The honest truth is there's a great deal of pressure," admitted Erna in the new issue of Revolver magazine.

"People are expecting the new GODSMACK record and wondering , 'What are they gonna look like? What are they gonna sound like?' " continued the singer. "I remember being a kid and feeling that way about METALLICA. It's not a bad thing, but it's just different for us. The expectations of the fans are high, and we want to deliver. But you can't get too caught up in that."

As previously reported, the revamped GODSMACK — featuring new drummer Shannon Larkin (ex-AMEN) — are currently in a Miami practice studio working on material for their next album, which may be called Releasing the Demons. Among the cuts already completed for the CD are the projected title track, "Straight Out Of Line", "Serenity" and "Erased" — the latter of which Erna refers to as "Greed Pt. 2", a sequel to one of the "hits" from Awake. GODSMACK hope to work on the new record with David Bottrill, who produced the GODSMACK song "I Stand Alone", which Erna wrote last year for the soundtrack of The Scorpion King.
